Dimming electrodeless lamps down to 50 to 30 per- cent of the nominal light flux levels is necessary in many applications to save energy while maintaining a suitable illumination level in the night or during other appropri- ate time periods. Dimming is possible by reducing the supply voltage, Increasing the operating frequency, or by pulse-width Modulating of the RF generator powering the lamp. This Paper examines mainly supply voltage dimming which Enables a soft, deep dimming with excellent discharge And system stability.
