摘要

This proceedings contains selected papers that deal with a broad range of topics and issues, each representing a specific wetland or region of wetlands or a process for studying and conserving neotropical systems. Individual papers include: Features and conservation of the Brazilian Pantanal wetland; New challenges in the management of the Brazilian Pantanal and catchment area; Landsat TM inventory and assessment of waterbird habitat in the southern altiplano of South America; Aquatic plant community composition and distribution along an inundation gradient at two ecologically-distinct sites in the Pantanal region of Brazil; Neotropical wetlands: new instruments in ecosystem management; and Status of knowledge, ongoing research, and research needs in Amazonian wetlands.
