'Shear' bliss as sheep farm wins Efficiency Award

The farm designed a whole-farm approach to water conservation, including the installation of a sophisticated reedbed water treatment system, which treats all wastewater from the farm, staff cottages and conference centre. Other award winners included the family owned brewery George Gale & Co. and the Hampshire Water Partnership's water festival. George Gale & Co.'s project reduced water used in its brewing process by 25 per cent and reduced chemical and energy use by 80 per cent. The Hampshire water festival offered local people the chance to appreciate the importance of water as part of a family day out. Events held on the day included a water market, music, street theatre, film, exhibitions, photography, guided walks, children's activities and canoeing.
