Work on tank keeps rolling on

Scaffolding is being erected in the launder channel of a final-settlement tank taking shape at Bolton Wastewater Treatment Works. Measuring 46m in diameter and 6m deep, four tanks are being constructed by the Galliford Try, Costain and Atkins combined venture under AMP4 for client United Utilities (UU) They will be the largest tanks at any UU waterworks. Also included in the ￡40M scheme are two new primary settlement tanks, refurbishment and modifications to existing aeration lanes, and a new sludge-handling facility, chemical-dosing plant and inlets works.
