One of Britain's rarest bats has been found for the first time at a water company's reservoir site. The young male Bech-stein's bat was discovered during bat monitoring surveys carried out by South East Water (SEW) ecologists Emma Goddard and Richard Dyer and independent consultant ecologist Dan Whitby at the company's Arlington Reservoir, near Berwick.rnThe man-made reservoir and surrounding woodland is already home to several bat species, including the Common Pipistrelle, Soprano Pipistrelle, Daubentons,rnBrandts, Whiskered and Brown Long Eared bats.
