In the current economic climate, water companies are under increasing pressure to develop cost-effective replacement and rehabilitation strategies for their water supply pipeline networks. Operating with limited budgets, asset managers are faced with the challenge of determining how long a pipeline can be left in the ground before approving expenditure on rehabilitation or replacement.rnIn practice, this depends on assessing the costs incurred from pipe failure against those incurred preventing failure through inspection condition assessment, rehabilitation and/or replacement.
