Innovative technology rnthat enables Yorkshire Water to reline sewer pipes without digging up the road has been used for the first time in Yorkshire at a site in Knaresborough.rnSpecialist contractor Water-flow uses remotely controlled, state-of-the-art computers to guide a hi-tech light train through a sewer, before sealing a new lining in place with ultraviolet rays.rnYorkshire Water project engineer Colin Sinclair said: "Usingrnthe new method allows us to upgrade sections of the sewer network that would have been difficult to reach. By being able to remotely control the ultraviolet light train while it's inside the sewer, we can get a perfect seal on the pipe without having to disrupt traffic by digging up large sections of the road."
