An oblong unit links to an evaluating device for recording data, lowers down into a sewer shaft (35) and has a movable surveying bar (34) able to record diverse geometrical data about the sewer shaft, such as depth of the sewer shaft and the height of the pipe vertex. The oblong unit lowers into the sewer shaft until it touches the brine of the sewer shaft and the movable surveying bar moves to the top edge of the sewer shaft in relation to the oblong unit. An Independent claim is also included for a method for surveying sewerage/drainage systems.
