Understanding THE condition of underground assets is a critical part of developing a proactive approach towards asset management, says John Proctor, Yorkshire Water's Huddersfield research and development project manager. Yorkshire Water, assisted by the Technology Strategy Board, is working with Balfour Beatty Utility Services and Technium Opto-electronics Technology and Incubation Centre-an organisation set up by the Welsh Assembly to develop small hi-tech companies-on a project to deliver a tool that will gather asset information on buried water pipelines.
