South West Water has been fined £20,000 and has had to pay £3,400 in costs after sewage escaped and polluted the Plym Estuary. Environment Agency officers identified the sewage contamination in May 2010 and alerted South West Water. The cause of the leak was traced back to a missing weir plate.
