Galliford Try wins £40M infrastructure projects

Galliford Try pic, the housebuilding and construction company, has secured £40M-worth of infrastructure projects, including two with Scottish Water and Yorkshire Water. The £17M deal with Scottish Water is with the joint venture between Galliford Try subsidiary Morrison Construction and Black & Veatch. It is for the sec- ond phase of the Meadow-head and Stevenston work package 6, part of Scottish Water's strategic programme to collect storm overflows from Kilmarnock town centre and transfer them to Mead-owhead wastewater treatment works. Another Galliford Try joint venture, this time with AECOM Design Build, has picked up a £15M contract to upgrade Woodhouse Mill sewage treatment works in Sheffield for Yorkshire Water. The purpose of the work is to improve the quality of final effluent in line with discharge consents set by the Environment Agency. Commenting on the new business, Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford Try, said: "We are delighted to secure further projects for two of our long standing framework clients in the water industry and to play a key role in a significant rail infrastructure contract for a new client.
