The global words market for water and wastewater filtration systems was worth US$6.1B (£3.8B) last year and is expected to reach $9.2B (£5.8B) by 2019, according to new analysis from Frost & Sullivan. The growth is the result of stringent water and wastewater regulations, expanding population, and receding water, as well as the rapid industrialisation of emerging economies such as China, India and Indonesia. The analysis covers the segments of single and dual filter media (sand, gravel, and activated carbon); multimedia filter (sand, garnet, anthracite, and magnetite); cartridge filter media; and others (cloth, ceramic, stainless steel, novel). Frost & Sullivan said the single and dual media filters segment will continue to dominate the market with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.1%, due to the escalating requirement for potable water, while the multimedia filters segment will remain stable at a CAGR of 6.3%, as it is the filtration solution of choice in wastewater treatment.
