BSkyB announced that it has agreed to purchase a 10% equity stake nin social media platform Zeebox, and will integrate the service into nits tablet and smartphone applications. Zeebox is an application that nembeds the user's social media experience within information about nTV shows. The company will remain an independent entity and noperate as a standalone platform in the UK, as well as planning to nexpand internationally. BMI considers the move by BSkyB to be a ncontinuation of its innovative track record, which will be important nin defending its position in the market with the intensifcation of ncompetition following the launch of OTT streaming service Netfix nin the UK on January 9 2012.
