摘要

Iron-based alloys with additional embedded vanadium carbides are very promising material candidates for high wear-resistant protective layers. Consequently, plasma arc surfacing was carried out on structural steels S235JR and S355J2G3, when the matrix of the surfacing layer consisted of iron-chromium-carbon- and iron-chromium-vanadium-carbon alloys. By adding the vanadium carbide separately, different levels of content could be obtained. Subsequently, an assessment of the structure, the hardness, the toughness and the wear-resistance of the surface welds was carried out.
