Mechanised and automatic welding of two-shell upright steel cylindrical containers with the capacity of 50,000 m3 in the conditions of the polar circle

At present, there are a number of projects in Russia forrnthe construction of terminals for various applications withrncontainers with the capacity of 20,000 m3 or more. Onrnthe shores of the Barents Sea, assembling and weldingrnoperations are be completed in the construction of twoshellrnupright vertical cylindrical containers with therncapacity of 50,000 m3 with a stationary steel lid of thernmain shell (Figure 1).rnThe diameter of the main shell of the container isrn60.7 m, the height of the wall 18.2 m, the lid cupolarn27.1 m, maximum wall thickness 28 mm. The diameterrnof the protecting shell is 66.07 m, the height of thernwall 15.6 m, the thickness of the first belt 25 mm. Therncontainers are fitted with the system for pouring inrnand discharging oil, heating of oil, fire extinction andrnmoistening, with ladders, inspection holes, nozzles forrnvarious applications, and other devices.
