Welding to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code

Issued by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code provides, in Part QW of Section IX, instructions for qualifying welders and welding operators to assemble vessels, pipes, and other weldments undergoing pressure in service. To determine whether any weld-ment proposed for construction meets service requirements, skilled welders assemble it according to rules listed in the appropriate Welding Procedure Specification (WPS). He also fills out, for the test, a Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) listing equipment, procedural details,and test results.
