Southern areas of British Columbia and Alberta had monthly temperature means 1 to 3°C (2 to 5°F) below average, whereas warmth of the same magnitude occurred in northern areas of these provinces. Temperatures above normal by 1 to 3°C (2 to 5°F) were recorded in all provinces to the east. A vast area that includes the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut had significant departures from seasonal temperatures. Temperatures were 3 to 9°C (5 to 16°F) warmer than normal, with many new daily and some monthly records being established.
