British Columbia had monthly mean temperatures 1 to 2°C (1 to 4°F) warmer than seasonal. In contrast, Alberta to the east was 1 to 4°C (2 to 7°F) colder than normal, and the Yukon to the north was around 5°C (8°F) colder than average. Timing and temperature resulted in several record snow days in and around Vancouver. The snow amounts provided a contrast with last winter, when the province the hosted Olympic Games with a critical shortage of snow. Helicopters and trucks had been used to deliver snow to mountains near Vancouver.
