OBITUARY HORACE FOSTER

Horace Foster, one of the last surviving boatmen of the old T & S Element carrying fleet, has died aged 75. The son of Charlie Foster, a steerer for the company, Horace grew up with the company's horse boats and later took charge of the motor Princess Ann on the GEC coal run to Witton, before the ending of the company's carrying in 1968. In recent years he was a familiar figure at BCN rallies and was closely involved with his father in the conversions of ex-working boats Falcon and former steamer Vulcan.
