IWA Directory reveals Britain's 6,500 miles of waterways

Mainland Britain enjoys 4,700 miles of navigable inland waterways, but that still leaves more than a quarter of the 6,500-mile canal and river network either derelict or unnavigable, according to new research from the Inland Waterways Association. The findings are contained in the IWA Waterways Directory. It details the complete canal and river network of England, Wales and Scotland, its condition and the many bodies responsible for it.
