A late addition to the Crick line-up this year was MBC's 60ft by 12ft wide-beam, Romney, which could be seen on land in the show village. Based on the popular Collingwood shell, it provided a very contemporary take on a residential boat. Under the demountable pram-type cover is a leatherette semi-circular seating area, which is capable of housing a large crowd of cruisers. Four steps, with storage below, lead down to a very tasteful island galley, with curved, polished worktops, and a full array of modern conveniences, including a dishwasher and wine cooler. The island adds more storage and work surface space, making this a hugely practical and pleasant place to prepare meals - probably better than most homes.
