PARAFIELD STORMWATER HARVESTING FACILITY

The Parafield Stormwater Harvesting Facility was officially commissioned on time in early 2003. As a result of this project it has ensured that more than a billion litres of water that was being pumped annually from the River Murray to service local industry will stay in the river. The facility is an outstanding and innovative example of best practice in urban stormwater management involving Local Government, industry and the community. The project is generating confidence in the growth of new and established industries in the City of Salisbury and enhancing job opportunities and economic stability for local people. Through the supply to industry, in aquifer storage and recovery, and in halting the flow of polluted water into the marine environment, it is delivering handsomely on the triple bottom line of sustainable environment, economy and community. The Parafield Stormwater Harvesting Facility is an outstanding facility and its success has been recognised through the receipt of the following awards: 1. 2003 Case Earth Award, National and Category 2 Award for Environmental Excellence in civil construction 2. 2003 AWA South Australian Water Category Award for Infrastructure Development and Management 3. 2003 National Award for Local Government, Category Award for Engineering and National Award for Innovation.
