The International Riversymposium 2006 attracted 556 delegates this year, including 193 delegates from 49 different countries. An overloaded program of concurrent sessions addressed: water reform; catchment management; agricultural practices; wetlands; environmental flows; floodplains; disaster management; engaging communities; indigenous river management etc. The following are some points from the opening session and a few other random snippets.
