The first use of the Commonwealth Government's environmental water in the Murray-Darling Basin was reported in March in the Commonwealth Environmental Water2008-09 Outcomes Report. Last financial year, nearly 11 gigalitres (GL) from the Commonwealth's environmental waters was provided to ten wetlands and floodplains in SA, NSW and Victoria, recommended by the respective state governments. Another 4GL was contributed to the sites by other sources, including the States or through the Living Murray Initiative.
