Modelling small pressure-breaking tanks in Kenya

The Kathita Kiirua water system serves some 35,000 people in a 200km~2 area of Kenya, where it is the only reliable and permanent water resource. Continuous population growth has led to estimates that the area will have a population of 60,000 by summer 2006. The system was designed and managed by European NGO Cefa, based in Bologna, Italy, and utilised a technical partnership with Mirandola-based multi-utility Aimag, which manages energy, water, wastewater and public lighting in its home area. Aimag worked on the project to optimise the distribution system and identify potential critical points.The project is currently in the final stages ofimplementation.
