Integrated concepts in water recycling

Areport on proceedings at this year's international conference Integrated Concepts in Water Recycling, held in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, records heavy criticism of current approaches and infrastructure and 'penetrating calls' for new thinking. Although recycling has expanded rapidly in recent years, a principal concern of proponents is that the option is not yet sufficiently drawn into mainline thinking and not naturally considered as an option in the initial assessment of a resource problem. Thus new thinking and integrated approaches are called for, concepts that were encouraged at this gathering in by attracting an international mix of water experts and those from a range of other disciplines.
