Water quality and quantity are top of mind in Atlanta, Georgia's largest city and the ninth larges't metropolitan area in the United States. The city is midway through its $4 billion Clean Water Atlanta capital programme to overhaul its entire sewer system, and it is a national leader in water conservation and public education on water consumption. Atlanta is part of the Metro North Georgia Water Planning District-organized in 2001, and today one of the 11 regions in the Georgia State Water Plan.
