Finance aid package agreed for Vietnam environmental improvements

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the State Bank of Vietnam have agreed a $1.4 billion financial aid package to facilitate a range of environmental improvements across the country, including nation-wide clean water access. Water is the key element in the agreement - a $1 billion financial support facility from ADB will help improve water access for three million urban families including 500,000 poor households who will receive an individual piped water connection for the first time. This funding is part of a larger $2.8 billion investment programme.
