Aquiba, a joint venture between UK company Sentec and Japan's Takahata Precision, has released its first product range, the A200 smart water meter. According to Aquita, the A200 s key features include high accuracy and low flow rates over the full service lifespan of the meter, no moving parts, time-stamping of all consumption, data logging and retrieval by radio or optical port, and customisable and field-upgradable application firmware. Norway-based Energy Micro announced that its EFM32 Gecko microcontroller is being used in the meter to handle the A200's flow measurement, data logging, secure communication and application firmware upgrades.
