Community management of rural drinking water systems

摘要

With a high number of rural drinking water systems in developing countries prematurely failing, this study looked into the community management of these systems and the development of a Sustainability Assessment Tool focusing specifically on community management issues during the post construction phase. The Sustainability Assessment Tool contains eight indicators (activity level, participation, governance, tariff payment, accounting transparency, financial durability, repair service, and system function), and each indicator is represented by a specific measure(s) (two measures each for accounting transparency and system function, and six for financial durability) for a total of 15 specific measures.
