Thames 'super sewer' for London to go ahead

Thames Water has won planning consent for its massive £4.2 billion ($6.8 billion), 25km Thames Tideway sewer, a decision jointly made by Communities secretary Eric Pickles and new Environment secretary Liz Truss. Pickles said: 'This is a challenging infrastructure project, but it is clear that the Thames tunnel will help modernise London's ageing Victorian sewerage system and make the river Thames cleaner and safer.'
