Australian water associations call to keep National Water Commission

Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) executive director Adam Lovell and Australian Water Association (AWA) chief executive Jonathan McKeown have issued a joint statement calling for key functions to remain after the federal budget confirmed the abolition of the country's National Water Commission (NWC) from December. The move was widely anticipated and federal water spokesman Simon Birmingham had previously said that much of the Commission's reform work had been done. The Commission's responsibilities for auditing and monitoring water policy reform will be given to other existing Commonwealth agencies.
