Auma electric actuators replace pneumatic technology at German water treatment plant

Pneumatic actuation technology for valve control has been replaced by electronic actuators at the Schmidtsche Quelle water treatment plant in Heidelberg, Germany, according to supplier Auma. Public utility Stadtwerke Heidelberg replaced approximately 50 pneumatic devices with Auma SGC electric actuators powered by maintenance-free electrical cables, ensuring high energy efficiency, says the company. The SGC actuators' highly compact design met the scheme's prerequisites, as installations were required in cramped locations. Additionally, availability of a Profibus DP interface enabled actuator integration into the new control system.
