The first Braden winch, now a part of PACCAR Winch Division, was an attachment for a Ford Model T pickup truck for use in the oilfield. Therefore, it should be no surprise that many of the innovations for efficiency and safety in the winch and hoist industry came about to address the requirements found on drill rigs.rnA specialized winch called a draw works continues to be one of the major components on most mobile drill rigs, and standard winches and hoists are used in many auxiliary functions in all types of drilling operations.
