A10-inch spring assist open valve from 3R Valve LLC is installed between a vertical turbine pump's suction intake and the pump bowls at an aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) well in Woodland, California. The city of Woodland's municipal water system has three ASR wells, three blending wells, and two standby wells. Its ASR program provides seasonal storage of high-quality, treated surface water. When potable water demand is low in the winter, the ASR wells store the excess water in the aquifer. During drought conditions in the summer, the stored water is recovered from the aquifer to meet high demands.
