Wetlands award promotes socio-economic benefits for water companies

Winners of the Living Wetlands Awards provide practical examples for sustainable wetland creation and management. Established by two UK organisations, the award promotes the economic, environmental, and social benefits of water companies' sustainable use of wetlands. The award-winning Aston Hall Farm project that transformed a 121-hectare site into a floodplain grazing marsh illustrates many of the reasons why water companies should commit to wetland creation and management. The project attenuates flood waters, reduces nutrient runoff and even brought about a huge increase in bird numbers and diversity of bird species in only four years.
