20% reduction planned for non-revenue water loss

An ambitious target of 20% non-revenue water (NRW) has been set to halve current overall NRW levels in eThekwini Municipality via pressure management, leak detection and billing improvement. The firstrnof its kind to be implemented in South Africa, this three-year programme will be tackled jointly by Munitech and the municipality in the northern metropolitan area. This includes the high water-lossrnareas of Ntuzuma and Inanda. Geographic information-system capacity - a tool that links information to geographic features -is being used to report and to assist engineers.
