Neither the holidays nor the recession have dampened usage of social networking tools online. Our need to connect, stay current, be seen, find a job, share information and opinions, and display our creativity are finding outlets on popular sites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Wikipedia, LinkedIn, Second Nature, Reunion, Blogger, etc. Consider that ... (1) recent Presidential election campaign activity caused Facebook usage to skyrocket; (2) YouTube is now the second largest search engine in the world; (3) Twitter has already had over a billion messages posted; and (4) The majority of Linkedln users reportedly have an average age of 41, relatively high incomes, and hold positions at the executive or consultant level.
