As usable water becomes more and more of a commodity around the world, conflicts are increasing. Many experts have an ominous view of future water management. As stated in an internet publication, 'The world's future wars will be fought not over oil but water: An ominous prediction made by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the British ministry of defence [sic] and even by some officials of the World Bank". Other experts disagree, believing that the number of cooperative agreements worldwide demonstrates a trend of cooperation rather than confrontation when it comes to managing, and sharing, water supplies.
