WATER INDICES CONTINUE TO CASCADE

The past decade showcased a growing number of water -related financial and physical indices, and the recent introduction of the Water Impact Index by Veolia Water confirms water indices are still a hot topic. The implications of water scarcity are at the core of all water indices, but which type of index is the better measure of true water scarcity, physical or financial? This month we highlight specific physical and financial indices (Table 1) that appear to be competing to add the latest relevant variable intended to further the reporting of water scarcity via indices.
