Let's briefly run through the current status of energy companies. Now they can: drill anywhere; pollute anywhere; be in charge of "cleaning up" their spills and decide what is "clean enough;" and keep secrets (what is in fracking fluid; how many spills or other operational mishaps have they had and their real size and consequences; what type of oil is pumped through underground pipes - refined, crude, or dilbit; what community and worker health problems result from operations; and cutting deals with governments and autonomous political entities such as Iraqi Kurdistan).
