API Seeks To Preclude EPA's Wyoming Data, Methods From Fracking Study

The American Petroleum Institute (API) is seeking to block EPA from incorporating into its pending study of the potential impacts of hydraulic fracturing on drinking water the research methods and data stemming from the agency's defunct research into alleged groundwater contamination from fracking operations in Wyoming. The group's representatives have sent a letter to the Science Advisory Board (SAB) panel reviewing EPA's research methods for its broad, congressionally directed study on potential drinking water impacts from fracking, which is due for issuance in 2016, urging panelists to ensure EPA does not use data or methods from its investigation of contamination in Pavillion, WY, in its broader study.
