摘要

EPA has rejected an Alaska advisory group's calls to assess and regulate under the Clean Water Act (C WA) several polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) stemming from oil and petroleum products that are not currently regulated but which the group fears could cause adverse effects to aquatic life. The agency said in an Oct. 21 response to comments document that the group's call to assess and regulate the substances was "beyond the scope" of the discharge permit at issue. Relevant documents are available at InsideEPA.com. Seepage 2 for details. (Doc. ID: 2451618) At issue is a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for the Alyeska Pipeline Service Co.'s Valdez Marine Terminal in Valdez, AK.
