EPA Revises Draft Environmental Justice Plan Following Advocates' Criticism

EPA has released its proposed Environmental Justice 2020 Action Agenda (EJ 2020), and is seeking additional public comment on what the agency is calling a "final draft," after environmentalists last year criticized a draft framework of the plan for its tenuous connection to the 1965 Civil Rights Act. EPA's EJ chief, Charles Lee, describes the new version of EJ 2020 as "a strategy that envisions an EPA that integrates environmental justice into everything we do, cultivates strong partnerships to improve on-the-ground results, and charts a path forward for achieving better environmental outcomes and reducing disparities in the nation's most overburdened communities," in his May 23 post on EPA's EJ website.
