EPA Touts 'Significant Progress' Advancing PFAS Action Plan

EPA is touting "significant progress" it has made over the past year advancing its Action Plan for addressing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) even as lawmakers and others have criticized the agency for failing to do enough to address the emerging contaminants and Congress enacted legislation to speed some agency actions. "Over the past year, we have built on the momentum the launch of the PFAS Action Plan put in motion, and our efforts have been nothing short of unprecedented. We have made progress in all of our program areas — from groundwater cleanup guidance, to new test methods that are helping to move our research efforts forward, to updates to our Toxics Release Inventory, to progress on updating our drinking water standards," EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler says in a letter prefacing the "EPA PFAS Action Plan: Program Update," released Feb. 26.
