A changing climate, increased agricultural and industrial use, population growth and other global factors have led to a variety of concerns about the management of the earth's water resources. From higher water bills and the decimation of crops by months or even years of drought to armed conflict over rapidly diminishing natural resources in places like Darfur, the growing water shortage underscores the need not only for comprehensive conservation plans and re-allocation of water resources, but the development of new technologies and facilities that allow us to convert non-potable water into fresh drinking water-essentially harnessing what many investore commodities traders are dubbing "blue gold."
