摘要

The guide focuses on modeling transport and fate of the nutrients nitrogen (N) and nphosphorus (P) because these are the most common OWS constituents of concern, and because nboth N and P are regulated in surface waters, while N is also regulated in groundwater. However, nmost of the modeling recommendations and methods described here are relevant for all water-nquality constituents, including emerging organic compounds and microbial pollutants. Before an naccurate chemical-transport model can be developed, reliable models for hydrology and sediment ntransport must be constructed, which is also covered by the guide.
