SUN 'N FUN 2014

In keeping with our goal to be of ever-increasing benefit to the seaplane and general aviation communities, SPA conducted four safety seminars/workshops at this year's Sun 'n Fun. The topics were some of our most requested and most popular: Flying Safe In and Around Florida, Don't Leave Home Without It, Seaplanes 101, and Make Safe and Successful Flights. The night aerobatics and fireworks shows are always a hit with the seaplane pilots and members who gather at the Seabirds tent at the event, and this year SPA provided refreshments with a donation of both beer and spirits from SPA Field Director "ET" Ed Tello. At the Annual Seabirds dinner after the splash-in at Fantasy of Flight, longtime SPA member, 40-year Sun n Fun volunteer, and Seabirds founding member Bob Highly was awarded a Lifetime SPA membership by SPA Executive Director Steve McCaughey. In addition to all of the other happenings at Sun 'n Fun, the biggest news for our members had to be the amazing donation of a Twin Seabee to the Vermont Flight Academy.
