Meet Brenna Durkin, 2021 Operations Challenge Committee Chair

Dozens of the world's most talented wastewater professionals will meet at WEFTEC 2021 for the 34th Operations Challenge competition. Each year Operations Challenge pits elite teams representing Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Virginia) Member Associations against each other in timed events. This year's competition, in addition to marking the return to an in-person format, also marks the debut of longtime Operations Challenge coach, judge, event coordinator, and administrator Brenna Durkin as chair of the WEFs Operations Challenge Committee.As chair this year, Durkin has worked tirelessly to fine-tune competition protocols, coordinate competitors and volunteers, and ensure Operations Challenge remains the water sector's most exciting professional development program. With more than two decades of Operations Challenge experience, Durkin is prepared to continue the competition's legacy of pulse-pounding action, outstanding professionalism, and friendly rivalries between colleagues.Durkin fits her Operations Challenge volunteer time in around her professional role at South Platte Water Renewal Partners (SPR; Englewood, Colorado), where she leads asset management work. She has worked in various roles at SPR since 1992.
