At WEFTEC~®, no event inspires a dual sense of camaraderie and competition more than Operations Challenge. Each year, a few dozen teams compete to earn high scores in five events: collections, laboratory, maintenance, process control, and safety. The teams train hard, compete at local and state levels, and grow faster and better at each skill to reach the coveted top spot. At the 2014 competition, some teams are returning to defend consecutive wins and strategizing how to reach the No. 1 spot again. "We approach this year the same as any other - to work harder and continue to improve our skills with winning a fifth consecutive national championship as our goal," said Stephen T. Motley, a member of Terminal Velocity from the Virginia Water Environment Association. Other veteran teams are returning to Ops Challenge ready to use the know-how they learned the first time around to grab the win for themselves.
